Superhuman video
- My initial thought on the video is that it is a diverse video and it is fun and enjoyable to watch for the audience due to the music being upbeat and also all the different events happening in the video.
The use of binary opposites of black and white used in this part of the advert makes the mis-en-scene of the written codes stand out to the audience making it draw their attention as it is simple but also eye catching. Additionally, the lexis of the word 'wrong' could stand out to some of the audience as it has connotations of negativity and being out of the norm. However, by the advert using this word it is trying to reverse the effect of the word and link it to positive connotations rather than negative and empowers the word to suggest to the audience that having something 'wrong' isn't always a bad thing it can be good and make you different from the rest
The mise-en-scene of the big gold Olympic medal could connote to the audience that no matter who you are and what is holding you back and in this scene pulling you down to persevere.
Additionally, at this point the music is slowed down to reflect the slower movement due to a set back, this could create deeper meaning to the audience as it may suggest that it may feel slow but you are in fact achieving a lot.
The use of the close up shot here can make the audience feel connected to the woman in thus shot and a close up shot could make it feel more personal to the audience.
Additionally, the use of the close up and direct address can make the shot seem more intense and it can imply that it is still a competition but also the use of a close up can make it feel relatable which could suggest anyone can be like the woman in the advert.
In this trailer there is the use of a narrative but not just one the s
fast editing flits between all the different story lines in the trailer which shows a diverse range of stories for the audience to relate to.In this specific capture it jumps from the lady playing sport to her giving birth which not only creates a more personal feel to the trailer but also tells the story of this specific woman. We see this multiple times and we get to see the people in the video progress in the video telling their story.
At this point in the video the music has changed from slower to faster and more upbeat music a it shows the people in the video achieving things that they have been seen to fail through the narrative in the story. The change in the pace of the music doesn't only link to the visual aspects of the video it also can link to the audiences emotions as they see the people in the video achieve their goals.
- I would say that the dominant ideology suggested by this advert is "to be a Paralympian there's got to be something wrong with you" but this is not meant in a bad way they have used the video for a reverse effect to show all that these people can achieve even though society may consider them to have something "wrong"with them.
